By Jesper Havshoi – Fish and Outdoor - Fredericia Final report this year We decided to make a final report for 2008. This because the season has come to an end. Few reports come in, so it’s difficult to present you the general circumstances around here. In this report a review of the season 2008. The coastline fishing has been up and down this year. In the beginning of the year the fishing was extremely good. A lot of nice size seatrout were caught in the area around Fredericia, Kolding and Vejle. Most fishermen experienced great fishing from the beginning of March till the end of May. Some of them had some really unbelievable fishing here. They caught up to 15 fish in one day in that period.
Quit a lot of big fish were caught during the start of the season. But there were also who had to work quite hard just to get one. I guess that’s what it is all about. Seatrout fishing is sometimes easy, but can also be very difficult and frustrating. In the beginning of June the fishing along the coastline got back to normal. People got fish now and then. July and August were good for the ones going at night time, and some very big fish were caught during these months. The biggest fish I heard about was a very nice fish on 8,5 kilo caught by Trelde Næs. So the big fish was out there. In September and October the fishing was incredibly difficult. A lot of small fish were caught but not to many big fish. But it looks good for the future. Remember that the smaller fish will be bigger for next year…
Last months mostly smaller fish were caught. For the rest of the year I expect tough fishing. The weather gets colder and the wind will also be rough. Not a lot of fishermen will be found along the coastline. Still the chance of getting a nice seatrout is always there. The River This was simply a fantastic year. All rivers in Denmark have produced excellent numbers. Vejle Å has had the best season ever, but I am still waiting to get the final numbers. The biggest seatrout caught here is a monster on 95 cm, 10,2 kilo. Both the amount and size were simply fantastic this season.
Vejle Å has been very producitve. Kolding Å has also been very productive this season. Though at one point the fishing almost stopped. The reason for this was a illegal net that was put in the inner part of Kolding Fjord. But still a great season here as well. Then we have the mighty Skjern Å. There’s only just one word to put it right: Fantastic! Last year it produced around 430 Salmon, this year it produced 878 Salmon with an average weight on almost 5 kilo! This is truly fantastic. The biggest fish here is a salmon on 15 kilo. This river is almost as good as some of the smaller rivers in Norway. It is going to be exciting to follow this river next year. I can also mention the Salmon on 16,5 kilo from Varde Å and a Salmon on 15,5 kilo from Guden Å. This has been an excellent season for the rivers. I will of course send reports if something exciting happens here. It’s just not every week for now. Thanks to all who came to the shop, it is always nice to talk to people from other parts of Europe and share a great passion. For next season I will bring out reports again, starting around the beginning of March.
See you again beginning of March. For now I wish you all the best! Tight lines for everybody. Jesper - info@fish-outdoor.dk - terug -
