Week 38 – Perfect circumstances but difficult to catch...

The fishing in the river has been pretty difficult until now. There are still lots of fish in the river and the water level is just perfect. But the fish seem to have taken a week of holiday.

I was at the river on Monday. It was one of those days everything went wrong… First of all I took the wrong fly reel with me and I also forgot my headlight. Perfect start of the evening… grrr…

Tuesday I was at the river again, bringing all the right gear this time. Entering the river bank I saw 2 fish jumping and within the next 2 hours I had 7 fish rise to the fly. Unbelievable. None of the fish took the fly, very frustrating. Another fisherman got a nice fish around 50 centimeter.

My friend Johnny got a fish on 50 centimeter last Thursday evening.

The coast…

The coastline is still fishing quit well. The area around Strib has been very productive this week. Also the area around Trelde has been fishing well.

Maybe next week we will have a wild report. Jelle, William and a few other mad Dutch flyfishermen are coming to fish in this beautiful seatrout country.

Looking forward too fish together with them again.
