Denmark report, June and July 2010

Hello everyone!

First of all I am sorry that I haven´t been very active here on FlyFever for the last couple of months. Simply too busy.

The Coastline:

The last two months were fantastic along the coastline. Lots of fish were caught. In June Lillebaelt was fishing really amazing. A lot of nice seatrout were caught. Biggest fish I have information about is a nice fish on 6,9 kilo. The concentration of seatrout has been fantastic, maybe because of the presence of lots of sandeels in the area this year. Everybody I have been speaking to are just talking about jumping fish in large numbers every time they have been along the coastline.

There has also been caught a lot of nice cod from the coastline, this is the first time in many years that the fishing for cod has been such as good. This is good for the future fishing here.

Cod is doing significantly better this year.

The fjords were not fishing good until the middle of July, but then the adventure also started here. Same story: lots of sandeel and then also lots of seatrout. I think this summer will be one of the best ever for the seatrout fishing here in this area.

The Rivers:

Skjern Å, on the 3rd of June, my friend Kasper (The wobbler-king) caught a very big salmon - 126 cm and 17,7 kilo. This is a monster salmon here in Denmark. Kasper has fished a lot in Skjern å this season so it was well deserved that he finally got this beauty. Otherwise Skjern å has been fishing okay this season until now. But due to a limit on the fishing not too many people are fishing here at this time of the season. All fish above 75 cm must be released for the rest of the season. So the amount of fishermen along the banks are very low at the moment.

Monster Atlantic for Kasper!

Vejle å, has had a tough start of the season, not too many fish have been caught until now. I think this is because of the cold winter we had here so everything is delayed here as well. But now it looks like something is starting to go on here as well. At the moment quite a lot of smaller fish are being caught. Only a few bigger fish have been caught until now. Biggest is 9,1 kilo.

I have been fishing the river around 20 times until now this season and only got 2 fish, one on 4,5 kilo and one on 2,3 kilo. Two nice fish but I had to work hard to get them! I think the next weeks will bring even more and hopefully bigger ones up in the river.
